Our new parent directory — private by design, and built to carry your family from kindergarten all the way through high school.

Getting in

Returning Oak Creek families

Your student is already in Roost. We brought last year's directory over, so sign in with the email address the school has on file, accept the terms, and confirm what you'd like shared. Most families are done in about a minute.

New and kindergarten families

If your family is new to Oak Creek this year, your student is starting kindergarten, or you weren't in the directory last year, you won't find your student yet. Enter your email at the same link and you'll be walked through a short request form — an Oak Creek directory admin will get you set up. You only do it once, and your account carries forward from there.

Classroom assignments

Roost won't show classroom assignments until the district roster arrives in October. Everything else works right now — you don't have to wait to get started.

Questions? Email the PTO at oakcreekelementarypto@gmail.com and we'll get you sorted.

The part you'll actually use

Look up the family behind the name your student keeps mentioning. Sort out a ride. Put together a birthday invite list without a chain of texts hunting for the right phone number.

This is the plain, boring thing a directory is for, and at elementary school it's most of what you'll use it for. Roost's version is searchable, current, and on your phone.

A guardian's Classes view in Roost at Maple Grove Elementary. A section titled Your Child's Classes pins Brian Gerlach's 4th grade (Leticia's class) at the top in a gold-tinted card showing 14 families, with an email-the-class icon. Below, the remaining classes are listed — Agnes Bradtke and Elouise Dicki (Kindergarten, 10 families each), Vicki VonRueden and Eloisa Lebsack-Walsh (Kindergarten, 7 families each) — with a Sort by first or last name toggle and a Hide all classes control.

Circles — your own private groups

The soccer carpool. The room parents. The four families you actually plan weekends with.

You create the group, you choose who's in it, and nobody else at the school can see it or ask to join. A Circle isn't a school group with a sign-up sheet — it's your list, and it stays yours.

Sarah Chen's Circles view in Roost. The "After-school pickup" circle is expanded, showing three members: Anna Carter with email, phone, and text icons; Ben Liu with a "Private" chip and "Contact info not shared"; Marcus Patel with email icon only. Other circles like Soccer carpool and Cross-school playdates collapsed above and below.

Fill the roles without the cold ask

Tell Roost what you're interested in and roughly when you're free. As families fill that in, each committee lead sees the parents most likely to say yes for their open roles, and can reach them in a tap — without ever seeing anyone's contact information.

For events, jobs like setup, the bake sale table, and cleanup become time slots parents claim themselves. The sign-up sheet, minus the spreadsheet.

A Potential Volunteers list in Roost at Maple Grove Elementary: seven families whose profiles fit the open roles, each with a Likes line (Event Planning, Outdoor Activities, Sports & Fitness) and a Not a fit dismiss control. A Message these families button sits at the bottom, with the note that only managers see this and Roost emails them on the organizer's behalf so their contact stays private.
A Checkout cashier job in Roost split into time-slots, 2 of 4 filled. The 9:00–10:30 AM and 10:30 AM–12:00 PM slots are filled by Melody Cummerata and Theo Mueller; the 12:00–1:30 PM and 1:30–3:00 PM slots are open with Sign up and Assign controls. A second job, Restocking helper, shows 0 of 2 filled with an invitation to be the first to sign up.

Trusted Help — sitters and tutors from our own district

Babysitters, tutors, coaches, and mentors, from inside the school community — recommended by parents you know rather than found on the internet.

And it reaches beyond our building. Lake Oswego Middle School and Lake Oswego High School are both on Roost. Their students are the ones who actually babysit and tutor around here, and they can extend their listings to Oak Creek families — each one arriving with a badge showing which school the family is from, so it's clearly a real family in your district.

Roost doesn't vet listings. Every entry is either self-submitted or recommended by another parent. Treat each one like an introduction from a friend: meet, ask questions, trust your judgment.

The Trusted Help page at Maple Grove Elementary in Roost. Section tabs show Families, Trusted Help (active), Clubs, and Sponsors. Header "Find or list trusted help" with subtitle "Trusted help from your school community. Everyone listed opts in themselves and chooses what to share." A prominent callout reminds that Roost doesn't vet listed people — every listing is self-submitted or recommended by someone in your community, to be treated like an introduction from a friend. An Add a listing button, a search bar, and filter chips for Sitter, Tutor, Coach, and Mentor. Three available family-listed sitter listings: Sophia K. (9th grade, sits ages 4-12, CPR-trained, $15/hr); Iris C. (10th grade, also tutors K-5 reading, $18/hr, inquiries routed to Seth Stroman); and Imani B. (12th grade, Red Cross babysitting and CPR certified, sits ages 1-8, $18/hr, inquiries routed to Lois Walker). Each shows it is visible at Maple Grove Elementary and Maple Grove High School, with a Report listing link.

One account, every school, every year

Nothing resets in August. Your account carries from kindergarten to first grade to fifth — no re-registering, no re-entering the same phone number every fall.

And when your fifth grader starts at Lake Oswego Middle School, the same account follows them there. A sibling at another Lake Oswego school that's on Roost is the same login too: one family, one password.

Your information, your call

Your family is included in the directory by default. When you first sign in you'll accept the terms, and from there you control what's shared — email, phone, and address each have their own switch. You can be visible to everyone at Oak Creek, only to families in your student's grade, or not listed at all.

Privacy is enforced at the database, not just in the app. Roost doesn't sell data, doesn't run ads, and doesn't share your information outside your school community.

Questions

Is this replacing ParentSquare?

No. ParentSquare is still where the school and your student's teacher communicate with you — attendance, announcements from the office. Roost is the parent-to-parent and PTO-to-parent side: the directory, volunteering, and community. The two work side by side.

What happens to our old directory?

The board has moved to Roost for this year. Setting up your Roost account is how you'll be in the directory going forward.

Why can't I find my student?

If your family was in last year's directory, your student is already there — try the other email address your family uses with the school. If you're new to Oak Creek, your student is starting kindergarten, or you weren't listed last year, request access at the link above and an admin will add your family. Either way you only do it once. Classroom assignments fill in when the district roster arrives in October.

Am I automatically listed?

Yes — your family is included by default, the same as in past years. You choose what's shared once you sign in, and you can hide individual fields or opt out of being listed entirely.

I have kids at more than one school.

One Roost account covers your whole family. Each Lake Oswego school that uses Roost shows up under the same login.

Do I have to use the app?

No. Roost works in any browser at app.roost.directory. The app is just faster.

I signed in and it didn't recognize my email.
